Wonderful Semarang Tourism

Lawang Sewu (Thousand Doors) is an ancient building dating back to the Dutch era which was built in 1904 and has very many doors.  In fact, there are fewer than a thousand doors. This building has many windows that are tall and wide, so people often think of it as a door. Lawang Sewu is located on the east side of Tugu Muda Semarang , or on the corner of Pandanaran and Jalan Pemuda streets.

Lawang Sewu is included one of the most haunted landmarks in Indonesia. On October 14 1945, shortly after Indonesia declared her Independence, the building became the scene for the bloody "Battle of Semarang". The fact which makes this building most popular is that it is believed to be a haunted house. This large and mysterious building is not simply a deserted structure, but is an icon of history and heroes.
